Amanda McBroom at The Crazy Coqs
London Times
Amanda McBroom’s show at the Crazy Coqs is the real grown-up fare. A truecabaret original, McBroom is a singer-songwriter, sometimes witty, sometimes confessional, who can leap from a Dorothy Fields classic toMelody Gardot’s If The Stars Were Mine and a murderously intense readingof Jacques Brel’s Ne Me Quitte Pas.
Her own compositions, Errol Flynn andThe Rose, are bewitching, as is Michele Brourman’s beautifully understatedpiano playing. Their residency, which ends on Saturday, is simplyunmissable.
